My Story

After many years teaching in the International Baccalaureate program—specializing in English, History, and Theory of Knowledge—at one of Canada’s leading schools, Upper Canada College in Toronto, I returned to my roots and launched Two Ravens the very day after I left the classroom. Landscaping is not new to me: before teaching, I worked as both a landscaper and the manager of the tree and shrub division at Reeves Nursery in Woodbridge.

My background in education has been invaluable in this work, allowing me to listen closely, understand individual needs, and translate clients’ ideas into vibrant, thriving gardens. I take great joy in working outdoors, problem-solving, and collaborating with clients to bring out the health, beauty, and design potential of their spaces. Whether someone is deeply passionate about gardening or simply wants a welcoming, low-maintenance space, my goal is to enhance both their enjoyment of and connection to their home landscape.

The name “Two Ravens” draws inspiration from my family’s Scottish heritage. Our clan crest, the Glengarry MacDonalds, features a raven — a symbol that traces back to Norse mythology. In these stories, Odin is accompanied by two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, representing thought and memory.

For me, these symbols hold a deeper connection. They reflect my passion for history — where thought and memory are inseparable — and tie directly to my academic work, including my M.A. research on the history of Scotland.
